Director of Photography Jody Lee Lipes has collaborated with Director Jenn Nkiru on THE NEW YORK TIMES  ongoing campaign, The 1619 Project. This instalment stars Janelle Monáe. The project began in August 2019, the 400th anniversary of the beginning of American slavery.  and is only the second time the Times has premiered an ad during the Oscars.
